January photo contest submissions started the year in classic satin black with contemporary rounded edges: a couple of Oval Gate Latch projects as well as a Contemporary Ring Gate Latch.
First, the ring gate latch – here on this also-classic horizontal gate. We like the edge framing the gate, and how the gate stop (seen to the right of the ring) is catching the edge trim.
Gate stops are included in all of our packages – and for good reason! You can read more about them in this blog post (and parts 2 and 3), but in short, your latch-arm and catch are meant to latch the gate, not stop it; a gate stop will – and will protect your hardware from damage caused by a gate slamming shut (not to mention, keep your warranty valid).
Curious about how the Ring Latch works? Check out a brief reel we made to document the ease of this very popular latch (you *might* end up with a certain song stuck in your head, and for that we apologize in advance!).
Then, onto the Oval …on another horizontal gate, this time with a pattern of varying board heights. Check out how the latch fits perfectly into the scheme! The Oval is versatile enough to fall into both the modern and contemporary lever gate latch categories.
Couldn’t resist a zoom on this craftsmanship – and our client was super grateful for this quality product!
Finally, the winner of our drawing, an Oval Gate Latch on a redwood privacy gate where palm trees abound!
