Just a quick reminder since we don’t want you to sleep on our photo contest! Each month, we enter all the photos submitted by our customers into a drawing for a special prize!
This month, Joe said “I promised to send photos when our gates were done. We just had them clear-coated this week. The latches and self-closing hinges look and work great.”
We love how he used the darker posts to compliment the Nero Contemporary Lever Gate Latches and also to allow the self-closing spring hinge combo sets (ball-bearing hinge on top!) to fade into the background. This combination just really lets the hardware shine!!
In this next photo, the dark post not only presents for symmetry, but also is a best practice for mounting to stone!
When gates are going to be hung between two columns (brick, stone, travertine), the best practice is to mount wood jambs to the columns, and then install hinges and latches. Prowell Woodworks has a great explanation with photos – we refer you to that, so we don’t recreate the wheel. Scroll to the section titled “Jambs” to get to the details. There’s a section afterward about “Mishaps” that is actually a great read.
