Project Profile: A 1960’s Ranch Home with Contemporary Double Gate

Our clients wanted to create a contemporary entry point to their 1960’s ranch home. They hired a woodworker to build them a contemporary fence and double gate around the entry, creating a courtyard effect. The results are fantastic.
A few technical notes about the installation.
  • The back side of the gate was open, just a frame. The woodworker built a blocked area on the back side to create a flat, stable area for the latch to be installed.
  • In this circumstance, the clients used two cane bolts on the inside of the gates. Having one cane bolt on each panel of the double gate makes it really easy to hold the gates open when they need to be.
“We wanted a modern gate and fence to update our 1960’s Ranch home just north of San Francisco. We love the richness of Western Red Cedar and stained the wood with Benjamin Moore Arbor Coat in Teak. We searched high and low for the right hardware and only 360 Yardware had the perfect modern stainless steel gate hardware for our project. Their Alta Modern Gate Latch is elegant, will last a lifetime and is so attractive that many passers-by stop to inquire about it. We were thrilled to support a family-run company who make their products locally in Portland, OR. It feels great to prominently feature gorgeous finishing accents that are made in the USA.”
