Hey everyone,
Just wanted to drop a quick note about something that’s been on my mind lately: gate stops.
If you’re installing a gate latch, it’s absolutely essential that you also install a gate stop. A gate stop is a small metal or rubber piece that prevents your gate from swinging too far and damaging the latch, the gate itself, or the hinges. In some cases, the stop is a metal or wooden piece that blends in with the gate as it runs the length of the post.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen gates without gate stops and it never ends well. Eventually the latch gets bent out of shape, the gate gets dinged up, or both. Not to mention, the potential damage to your property!
Luckily, installing a gate stop is a quick and easy process. Just attach it to the gate using screws, and make sure it’s positioned so that the stop catches the gate as it closes. Voila! Your gate is now protected from damage and will operate smoothly for years to come.
So if you’re installing a gate latch (or if you already have one without a gate stop), do yourself a favor and invest in a gate stop. Trust me – you’ll thank yourself later!
