When you’re making an investment in your property, you want it to be long-lasting. What better combination than our Nero Contemporary Lever Latch and a gate made of Ipe hardwood. Your choice of gate latch hardware and your gate construction will make a difference in how long-lasting of an installation you achieve.
If you’re not familiar with Ipe, it’s a South American wood that is dense and extremely durable. It resists decay, insects, moisture and scratches. Our customer shared this photo of his courtyard gate, which also used our self-closing combo set of hinges.
Erik says: “It looks amazing and the hardware really complements what is a really nice gate. I need to build a matching gate for the side entry and will be purchasing another hardware set to match.”
We love that we can see his gate stop placement (down near the bottom – so truly only gate nerds like us will notice it!). Gate stops are included in all of our packages – and for good reason! You can read more about them in this blog post (and parts 2 and 3), but in short, your latch-arm and catch are meant to latch the gate, not stop it; a gate stop will – and will protect your hardware from damage caused by a gate slamming shut (not to mention, keep your warranty valid).
Well done, Erik – and of course we can’t wait to see the matching gate!
