Our most recent photo contest winner features our Alta Contemporary Lever Gate Latch; it looks perfectly complementary on this aluminum-framed and pivot-hinged gate. All gates, including metal gates, need a gate stop. In this case the client chose to install our stop to the edge of the metal gate. Some people opt for building in a stop to the edge of their metal stile. There is no one correct way to do it and it’s about preference. In any case, gate stops are included in all of our packages – and for good reason! You can read more about them in this blog post (and parts 2 and 3), but in short, your latch-arm and catch are meant to latch the gate, not stop it; a gate stop will – and will protect your hardware from damage caused by a gate slamming shut (not to mention, keep your warranty valid).
Have you picked your jaw up off the floor??
All we can say is HOLY COW. 😉
