Stainless Steel Gate Hardware in Hawaii

An Ipe fence + double gate in Hawaii, adorned with stainless? Say less…but we won’t, actually, because it’s just too good!

A first peek at this project reveals solid lines, perfectly aligned with our Alta Stainless Steel Gate Latch (with a dummy on the left/inactive side). Due to the significant weight of an Ipe gate, our customer used 5″ stainless steel heavy duty ball-bearing hinges on each panel (note these are also sold in pairs and trios).

Just underneath the Alta Latch you can see the installation of a stainless gate stop. Gate stops are included in all of our packages – and for good reason! You can read more about them in this blog post (and parts 2 and 3), but in short, your latch-arm and catch are meant to latch the gate, not stop it. A gate stop will. It will protect your hardware from damage caused by a gate slamming shut.

Once inside the yard, we see the addition of 18″ marine grade lockable cane bolts. While only one cane bolt is required (to hold the inactive gate down to the ground), installing a second one allows you to open both gates and use the cane bolts to hold them to the ground.

Such excellent craftsmanship and handiwork, and we also can’t help but appreciate the flow of the concrete and the black rocks, all under a canopy of palm trees.
